Roland Folse. a multi media artist and retired surgeon, focuses on Oil Painting, Ceramics, Wood Sculpture, and Original Design Furniture.

His paintings reflect his love and appreciation of trees, sky, rocks, and water. His long interest in Bonsai and Asian culture has had a strong influence on his design and subject matter. Folse’s Ceramics are non functional forms with Crystalline, Shino, Ash, Copper Red, and Raku glazes.

His many awards at Edwards Place Fine Art Fair have included Best of Show for Ceramics and several 1st Place awards. He won the University of Illinois-Springfield (UIS) Ceramic Guild Award in 2002. In September of 2006, he attended the International Ceramics Conference in China, celebrating 1,000 years of Song Dynasty Pottery.

His sculptures are expressions of nature, and his furniture is made of multiple local hardwoods.

Folse’s multi media works can be seen regularly at H.D. Smith-Prairie Art Alliance Gallery at the Hoogland Center for the Arts,  in Springfield, Illinois.

His multimedia exhibits include: Two-person shows at Prairie Art Gallery in 2001, 2004, 2008; One-Man Show at UIS Gallery in 2007 and many local festivals.
